My journey started in 2018, when I heard "I'm sorry Mrs. DeCorsey but your daughter is going to have Down Syndrome." I thought my life was over. Little did I know my perceptions, my opinions, my thoughts they were all about to change. In August of 2018 our sweet Mila Jean was born. Becoming a special needs Mom wasn't what I had envisioned. However its by far the best thing that has happened to me and my family. Yes it comes with major hills and valleys but its also so rewarding. 

 

I have learned so much along this journey and in this role. I finally decided to own that role and be intentional about it. I started writing about my daughter, my thoughts, and curious wonderings about this new world we were apart of. I founded Motherhood of the extra Chromosome with a mission to give others a taste of what goes on in our world, and I have been at it ever since.
